J Group was engaged by Bankstown City Council for the upgrade of the stormwater drainage system along Rickard Road. The project includes realigning the kerb and gutter, reconstructing commercial crossings, and constructing in-situ stormwater pits to improve drainage capacity. Additionally, the works involve pavement reconstruction, line marking, minor landscaping, and the relocation of water mains.
Situated in a high-traffic commercial area, the project requires careful coordination with strict traffic management plans and environmental controls to ensure minimal disruption to local businesses and road users. Night work was permitted with restrictions on noise, and the project plays a crucial role in enhancing the drainage infrastructure to prevent future flooding and erosion.
THE SCOPE
• Site Establishment: Setting up the site with temporary fencing, traffic control measures, and site facilities.
• Demolition: Removal and disposal of existing kerbs, gutters, drainage pits, and stormwater pipes.
• Stormwater Drainage: Construction of in-situ stormwater pits and installation of new stormwater pipes to improve drainage capacity and prevent flooding.
• Kerb and Gutter Realignment: Reconstruction of kerbs, gutters, and commercial crossings for proper drainage flow.
• Pavement Works: Reconstruction of road pavements and footpaths in line with new design levels.
• Water Main Relocation: Relocation of water mains to accommodate the new drainage system.
• Traffic Management: Minimise disruptions in this high-traffic commercial area, including obtaining a Road Occupancy License (ROL).
