SECTOR
Government
J Group was tasked with delivering a critical upgrade to the stormwater infrastructure at Blackheath Golf Course for Blue Mountain City Council, including the construction of new pits and pipelines to improve drainage and manage stormwater flow into the surrounding environment. This project also involved connecting the stormwater system to an existing dam and installing additional infrastructure to convey the dam’s outflow to a nearby creek.
The works required precise coordination to minimize disruption to the golf course operations and surrounding landscape. Key aspects included earthworks, installation of RCP pipelines, and the construction of rock-lined structures for erosion control. The project was delivered with careful attention to safety and environmental management, ensuring that both the infrastructure and surrounding turf areas were protected during construction.
THE SCOPE
• Drainage Infrastructure: Construction of new stormwater pits and RCP pipelines (450mm to 900mm) to improve stormwater flow and manage the connection to an existing dam.
• Earthworks: Excavation and backfilling for pipelines, reshaping land for proper drainage, and preparing the site for new infrastructure.
• Rock-lined Structures: Construction of rock-lined spillways, headwalls, and stilling pools to manage erosion and stabilise outflow
• Roadworks: Reinstatement of Bright lands Avenue, including saw-cutting, kerb and gutter reconstruction, and asphalt resurfacing after pipeline installation.
• Turf and Cart Path Reinstatement: Replacing turf in disturbed areas and constructing new cart paths with integral kerb.
ADDITIONAL WORKS
The Blackheath Golf Course Stormwater Upgrade was successfully completed, providing a significant improvement to the drainage infrastructure. The new stormwater pits, RCP pipelines, and rock-lined structures have enhanced water flow management, reducing the risk of flooding and erosion. The project was delivered with minimal disruption to the golf course, and the surrounding landscape, including the turf and cart paths, was fully reinstated. The upgrade has increased the resilience of the golf course’s stormwater system, ensuring long-term protection against future water flow issues.
